Award of the Kearny Cross of Valor
Upon the recommendation of General Philip A. Roubaud, Commanding General, Army of the Potomac, it is hereby my honor to award the Kearny Cross of Valor to
.....................................................Brigadier General Lutz Schmidt........................................................
...................................................Commander, 2nd Division, I Corps......................................................
...........................................................Army of the Potomac..............................................................
For the first half of 2011 Brigadier General Schmidt not only completed 17 battles, the most in the Army of the Potomac, but his record of 8 victories and 2 defeats in that period, with 4 Battle Ribbons is outstanding and a credit to the Army of the Potomac and the Union Army.
