Current holder:
Brig. Gen. Doug Shaw

Back to AotC HQ

~ Rules ~

  1. Only active officers of the Union Army of the Cumberland can take part.
  2. An officer can challenge the holder of the AotC Top Dog award at any time.
  3. Challenge should be posted in Woodin Injun Tavern, for everyone to see it.
  4. Only one challenge match is played at a time.
  5. In case there is more than one challenger, the one who posted his challenge first will fight first. Others should wait until this match is ended. But they are on waiting list automatically until they cancel their challenge or lost the priority on the list (retire, do not answer when the match is over, etc..).
  6. The holder of the award may not refuse a challenge. If he refuses to play, the award is automatically given to the challenger. If the holder or challenger disappears at any time during the match, the award is automatically given to the remaining officer.
  7. Any scenario can be chosen for the challenge. The challenger has the right to select a scenario and rules, and the holder has the right to pick side in the match.  It is suggested (only suggested) that scenarios do not exceed 30,000 men per side and do not extend over 30 turns (why, read rule 8).
  8. The Top Dog of the AotC is the officer who is not only the master of the battlefield, but who is also fast in exchanging files. For that reason the objective time for one match is 2 days per game turn, i.e. a 30 turn game = 60 days, a 20 turn game = 40 days, etc. Limiting the size of the forces involved will help to achieve the objective time limits.
  9. The current winner of the Top Dog Challenge will be entitled to have the Top Dog Medallion displayed within their personal entry on the AoC web page. The Top Dog Medallion is a copy of the original medallion struck for the Society of the Army of the Cumberland membership badge in 1865. It incorporates the three wartime symbols of the IV Corps (triangle), XX Corps (Star) and the XIV Corps (acorn), the three corps as they existed within the Army of the Cumberland while it served under the command of Maj. Gen. George H. Thomas.
  10. Good luck and fair play!
