JTS/HPS SINGLE SCENARIO GAME START,
FIRST-TURN PLAYER

~ continued ~

If you are the first-turn player, the battle screen will be superimposed with either a Union or Confederate "Movement Phase" notification display. The Confederate player display is shown in this example. At that point you need only click upon the display to begin the game.

At some point duting your move, you must check the PBEM Encryption selection from the "Settings" pulldown menu. This will prevent your opponent from incidentally viewing your troop positions, as it will allow you to lock your screen with your own password. If you are the first-turn player, you will easily be able to acess the "Settings" pull down menu at any time during your turn.

When you have completed your turn and have advanced the game by touching off the "Next Phase" tool bar button, you be presented with the "Save As" window, which will ask you to save the battle file with a name of your choice. The window will also display any other file names which you may have saved previously. Note that in this example the two previous file names are preceded by two exclamation (!) points. This is a good practice to adopt as it lifts you game files to the top of the file order within the game folder and makes them easy to access and select. After you have named your file, click the "Save" button.

A "Key Dialog" window will then appear (Rebel player in this example), in which you should enter a personal password of your choice to protect your game file. When you have done so, click the "OK" button.

When you have finished your turn and advanced the final "Next Phase" button on the toolbar, you will be presented with the "End of Play-By-E-Mail local control" message seen below on your battle screen. Click the "OK" button.

The game is now properly formatted for a PBEM contest. Click "OK" on the "PBEM Message" window to close out the turn.
