Introduction by: Henry Steel Commager
An interesting narrative that is broken into a day by day account of every important development in the war versus focusing on specific campaigns. The concurrent time-line, inadequacies of communication, the political roots of conflict, and the relevance of each on the conduct of war in total, have combined to make a very different impression on this reader than that gleaned from biographies, and battle anthologies. The whole was truly greater than the individual parts.

I did get a chance to read the book, and it was very enjoyable plus dealt with many obscure battles. An excellent read
