This raid is also the source material for the John Ford film The Horsemen starring John Wayne.

I Just finished readng Howard Sinclair's 1955 novel "The horse soldiers" which is based on the Grierson Raid. The CS counter moves and newspaper reports are the actual response to Grierson, but the author uses fictional people to avoid attributing words and feelings to Grierson and his men.
