AotT Monthly Army Report, April 2011

Post by Pony Soldier »

April, 2011, AotT Army Report
April 22, 2011

It is my pleasure to present the April, 2011, Monthly Report of the Union Army of the Tennessee.

As of this date this field army has attached to it a total of forty-four officers: forty-one active, one currently assigned to the AotT Hospital, one to the detached Ninth Division, and one on Leave of Absence.

Major General John Lytwak has been approved to command XV Corps and officially assumed command on April 20, 2011. For his long, faithful and effective performance as a Division Commander, I have awarded Major General Lytwak the Honorable Service Medal.

Lt David Earls, 2/1/XV has been reassigned to his command out of the detached Ninth Division after contacting his DC.

Lt. Col. (P) Andreas Trommel still has yet to make his promotion to Colonel official by accessing the Department of Records. Additionally, Lt. Col. (P) Trommel has failed to answer the April Muster and has been assigned to the Detached Ninth Division. Captain Krolikowski has earned promotion to Major and Lieutenant Colonel..

After having honorably served for a period of sixteen months in the capacity of Army of the Tennessee, General Joe Meyer has relinquished command of the Army to Lieutenant General Dan Peterjohn effective March 31, 2011. General Meyer will now devote his energies solely to command of the Union Army.

I have assigned the AotT Chief Engineer, Brigadier General Dave Elkin and Major General Brent Horrocks 3(2Cav)/XVI/AotT to jointly develop simple instructions for loading HPS games onto Windows 7. Since many officers (Myself included) have experienced problems with this procedure, I hope to develop a simple checklist to aid even the most computer illiterate member of the club. Both officers have developed a checklist. I intend to use the "Napoleon's Corporal" method of testing these lists by personally using them to load some of my own more troublesome HPS games onto a Windows 7 OS. If these checklists prove successful, I will present them for use to the members of the AotT and submit them to the Western Theater Commander and Union Army GinC for their review and possible implementation by the Union Army at large.

The army conducted its sixteenth Muster Call since its January, 2010 reorganisation this month with forty of the forty-one “available” officers responding, recording a 98% Muster Report return rate.

The detached Ninth Division currently lists one officer, Lt. Col. (P) Andreas Trommel, as Out-of-Contact. One officer, Brig. Gen. Paul Brennan, is assigned to the AotT Hospital. He begins his third, and final, month in hospital. Lt. Col. Gabriel Szala has been approved by the Union Army GinC for discharge from the Army having been Out of Contact or in Hosptal for a period of six months without responding to repeated attempts to contact him. Attempts to contact these OOC officers regularly have been made and will be continued. With no reply from these officers it is, of course, difficult to determine their actual welfare.

There are currently three brigade vacancies and one division command vacancy within the AotT OOB.

Five of the Army’s six divisions turned in 100% Muster Returns this month, and the following records have been noted:

Brig. Gen. Jeffrey McDonald’s First Infantry Division, XV Corps - Second consecutive and Tenth overall effort.

Maj. Gen. Stefan Reuter’s Second Infantry Division – Fifth consecutive and Thirteenth overall effort. Col. Ray Matthews Third (1st) Cavalry Division, XV Corps – Fifth consecutive and eighth overall effort.

Col. Ray Matthews’ Third (1st Cav) Division-Sixth consecutive and Ninth overall effort.

Brig. Gen. John Sheffield’s Second Infantry Division, XVI Corps – Ninth consecutive and thirteenth overall effort.

Maj, Gen. John Lytwak’s Third (2nd) Cavalry Division, XVI Corps - Ninth consecutive and thirtenth overall effort.

The Army of the Tennessee concluded twenty-one actions during the month of February. Every action was a battle against Confederate opponents. Eight of these battles resulted in AotT MAJOR VICTORIES, six of them qualifying for a battle ribbons. There was one MINOR VICTORY for the AotT and four DRAWS. The Rebels scored seven Majors and one Minor Victory against us allowing the AotT to maintain its edge over the Secessionists..

Battle Ribbons for Major Victories include those for: Brig. Gen. Peter Russo, (HPSCP Beaver Dam); Brig. Gen. Zafer Ejder, (HPSCA Kennesaw Mountain) ; Brig. Gen. Stefan Reuter (HPSCN Second Manassas ); Lt. Col. Aleksander Krolikowski (HPSCA Rocky Face), (HPSCV Port Gibson) and (HPSCO Lexington)

Major Victories not meriting a Battlefield Ribbon was scored by Lt. Col. Jason Fitch (HPSCC Champion Hill) and by Major Roberto Sanchez (HPSCA Cassville)

A Minor Victory was scored by Major General Stefan Reuter (HPSCP Oak Grove ).
