February, 2011, AotT Army Report

Post by Joe Meyer »

It is my pleasure to present the February, 2011, Monthly Report of the Union Army of the Tennessee.

As of this date this field army has attached to it a total of forty-six officers: forty-two active, two currently assigned to the AotT Hospital, one to the detached Ninth Division, and one on Leave of Absence.

The following changes have occurred to the AotT Roster. One officer, Lt. Col. Clay Shurts reported for duty during this month returning from the Discharged Officer List. Seven AotT officers earned sufficient OBD points to merit promotion. Four of these promotions were either to General Officer rank or to the next level of General Officer and three more to the field grade ranks. Lt. Mike Alberts who has previously been carried on the Leave of Absence Roster has submitted his resignation. He has been placed on the Retired List. Brigadier General James Evans has been recommended for discharge from active service after being assigned to the detached Ninth Division and three more months assigned to the AotT Hospital. Brigadier General Paul Brennan has been reassigned to the AotT Hospital after spending three months in the detached Ninth Division.

The army conducted its fourteenth Muster Call since its January, 2010 reorganisation this month with forty-two of the forty-three “available” officers responding, recording a 98% Muster Report return rate!

The detached Ninth Division currently lists one officer as Out-of-Contact, Lt. David Earls. Two officers are assigned to the AotT Hospital, Brig. Gen. Paul Brennan begins his first month, and Lt. Col. Gabriel Szala begins his second. Attempts to contact these OOC officers regularly have been and will be continued. With no reply from these officers it is, of course, difficult to determine their actual welfare. As a result of these transfers there are currently four brigade vacancies within the AotT OOB.

Five divisions of this army turned in 100% Muster Returns this month, and the following records have been noted:
Maj. Gen. Stefan Reuter’s Second Infantry Division – third consecutive and eleventh overall effort.
Col. Ray Matthews Third (1st) Cavalry Division - third consecutive and seventh overall effort.
Gen. Chuck Jensen’s First Infantry Division – first consecutive and twelfth overall effort.
Brig. Gen. John Sheffield’s Second Infantry Division – seventh consecutive and eleventh overall effort.
Maj, Gen. John Lytwak’s Third (2nd) Cavalry Division - seventh consecutive and eleventh overall effort.

The Army of the Tennessee concluded twenty-two actions during the month of January twenty battles and two UMA Training Maneuvers. Seven of the battles resulted in AotT Major Victories, four of them qualifying for a battlefield ribbon. There were two Minor Victories and four DRAWS. The Rebels scored seven victories against us, seven Majors and no Minor Victories. This record very definitely indicates an improving skill level within the AotT!

Brigadier General David Swartz earned a Battlefield Ribbon for his victory at BGS Shiloh #04h. (This victory was noted on last month’s report.) Brigadier General Zafer Ejder and Major Roberto Sanchez each earned a Battlefield Ribbon for their victories at the Second Battle of Resaca (HPS Atlanta). Major General Joe Bukal earned a Battlefield Ribbon for his victory at Davis Bridge, HPS Corinth #03h.
