The following awards earned in battle for the month of November, 2010, are now made.

The Kearny Cross is awarded for "outstanding achievements on the field of battle." Two officers within the Army of the Tennessee turned in very excellent records during the second half of 2010, and are deserving of this award.

Lieutenant General Ian Miller
Lieutenant General Miller turned in a 2 - 1 - 6 - 0 - 0 record, the best such within the XV Corps for the last half of 2010.

Lieutenant Colonel Andreas Trommel
Lieutenant Colonel Trommel turned in a 3 - 1 - 2 - 0 - 0 record, the best such within the XVI Corps for the last half of 2010.

The Union Army has just recently approved two new Commendation Awards; the Honorable Service Medal (HSM) and the Good Conduct Medal (GCM). Each may be awarded by the individual AC's at their own discretion or upon recommendation from their subordinate commanders.

The HSM is awarded to those officers who have "contributed to the support of the Union Army," and, with an accompanying 5 OBD Points, rests just below the Distinguished Service Medal in the service hierarchy. Support of the Union Army may be defined by the AC in a number of broad areas, including most normally an administrative contribution such as service as a DC or CC, or as having made contribution through voluntary efforts which benefit or support the operation of both the entire ACWGC Union Army of individual field armies.

Two officers within the AotT have earned this award during this past year.

Lieutenant General Ian Miller
Awarded the Honorable Service Medal for his active and exemplary service as a UMA Instructor.

Col. Ray Matthews
Awarded the Honorable Service Medal for his faithful and attentive service as an AotT ADC in the first half of this past year and as a DC in the last quarter of the year.

The Union Army's GCM, a 5 OBD Point value, is awarded to those officers who "display exemplary conduct in their role as an officer of the Union Army." Once again, this award is subjective to the AC's interpretation and may be recommended from any his subordinate commanders. However, it is my feeling as the AotT Commander that a more precise criteria be applied to this award in our, own field army. Accordingly, I have set out three separate criteria for this award, which is to be issued at the end of each half of the year. First, the officer must have answered all six of his Muster Calls for the period. Second, four of his Muster Returns must have been made as postings within the Conference Hall. And, third, the officer must have had a minimum of two games underway or completed within that same time period. While an otherwise excellent officer may have satisfied or exceeded two of these criteria and faulted by the barest of margins on another, it is important to remember that there is a specific value associated with the award that must be met, and that those same criteria offer a future inducement to the good order and health of this army on the part of all of its officers.

Therefore, and in light of the specificied criteria met during the last half of 2010, I am making awardance of the GCM to the following officers.

Maj. Gen. Dan Peterjohn
General Randy Hartwig
Brigadier General Jeffrey McDonald
Brigadier General Stefan Reuter
Lieutenant General Ed Lytwak
Major General Joe Bukal
Brigadier Geeneral Pete Russo
Major General Gary McClellan
Colonel Ray Matthews
Brigadier General Charles Babb
Lieutenant General Michael Dowling
General Chuck Jensen
General Kelly Ross
Lieutenant Colonel Andreas Trommel
Colonel John Sheffield
Lieutenant General Bob Hughes
Colonel Zafer Edjer
Brigadier General John Lytwak
Brigadier General David Elkin

My personal congratulations to all of these officers for their various commendations and awards, and my most grateful appreciation of their interest and participation in this field army and club! <SALUTE>

OFFICERS OF THE ARMY OF THE TENNESSEE,
