December, 2010, AotT Army Report

Post by Joe Meyer »

It is my pleasure to present the December, 2010, Monthly Report of the Union Army of the Tennessee.

As of this date this field army has attached to it a total of forty-seven officers: thirty-nine active, two currently assigned to the AotT Hospital, two to the detached Ninth Division, and two on Leave of Absence. Lieutenant Victor Balaguer and Colonel Bill Cassely were discharged from service.

The army conducted its eleventh Muster Call since its January re-organization this month with thirty-nine of the thity-nine “available” officers responding, recording a 100% Muster Report return rate. This was the first time that a 100%, perfect Muster Return has been recorded!

The detached Ninth Division currently lists two officers as Out-of-Contact: Brig. Gen. Paul Brennan and Lt. Col. Gabriel Szala. Attempts to contact both OOC officers regularly have been and will be continued. With no reply from these officers it is, of course, difficult to determine their actual welfare. There now exist seven brigade vacancies within the AotT OOB.

Of the two officers in the AotT Hospital, Maj. Wayne Lubbert begins his third month, and Brig. Gen. James Evans begins his second month.

All six divisions of this army turned in 100% Muster Returns, and the following records have been noted:
Brig. Gen. Jeffrey McDonald’s First Infantry Division – second consecutive and eighth overall effort.
Brig. Gen. Stefan Reuter’s Second Infantry Division – first consecutive and ninth overall.
Col. Ray Matthews’s Third (1st) Cavalry Division – second consecutive and fifth overall effort.
Gen. Chuck Jensen’s First Infantry Division - tenth consecutive and tenth effort.
Col. John Sheffield’s Second Infantry Division – fifth consecutive and ninth overall effort.
Brig, Gen. John Lytwak’s Third (2nd) Cavalry Division - fifth consecutive and eighth overall effort.

This was the third 100% Muster Return for General Randy Hartwig’s XV Corps, and the eighth 100% Muster Return for Lt. Gen. Michael Dowling’s XVI Corps!

The Army of the Tennessee concluded twenty-four actions during the month of November: twenty-three battles and one maneuver. Two of the battles resulted in AotT Major Victories, both of them qualifying either in whole or in part for battlefield ribbons. There were four Minor Victories and ten DRAWS. The Rebels scored only six victories against us, five Majors and one Minor Victory.

General Kelly Ross earned a MV ribbon at HPSCG, Second Winchester!

Brig. Gen. Pete Russo once again secured part of another FMV MV at #081 Chattahoochie River Line, July 7 – 8, 1864, in HPSCA. The four Minor Victories were recorded as follows: Gen. Joe Meyer, HPSCA # 011, Resaca; Brig. Gen. Jeff McDonald, HPSCCH #16a, Chickamauga; Lt. Col. Andreas Trommel, HPSCN #064, South Mountain; and Maj. Gen. Joe Bukal, HPSCC #vdd_c23u1, Metamora.

A number of AotT officers completed two games on the month: Gen. Joe Meyer, Brig. Gen. Dave Swartz, Col. Dave Elkin, Col. John Sheffield, Col. Zafer Edjer, Lt. Col. Andreas Trommel, Lt. Gen. Ian Miller, and Maj. Gen. Brent Horrocks!

Note: All Muster Reports made by indirect e-mail are devalued by 1 point.

Due to the severe economic burdens placed upon this Government as a result of the unexpected liquor bills generated by the AC’s and CC’s, the normal cold weather clothing issue will be confined to only one set of “long john” underwear. All officers and men are therefore reminded to remove their underwear prior to the mandated monthly bath, lest they forget they still have it on!

This concludes my report.

It is most pleasing to see that the AC and the CC's are drinking to excess - it is obvious that sending these men on my CSA advanced drinking course has paid off. I now think that it is time to send the DC's on the course. :o  :?

General McOmish <salute>

Suh, my compliments! We do appreciate your willingness to share our secrets with regards to indulgence, however we feel that providing this information to DC's of the AoT may be a bit premature.

General Meyer posted recently in the Mason Dixon Tavern with regards to one of the newer members of his command "Major Masson is a credit to the Army of the Tennessee! He was specifically recruited to our ranks to make the Rebs feel good about the fact that they will eventually lose this contest!"

As you might imagine, Gator Alley took some offense to this reckless propoganda on the part of the distinguished Yankee officer. We have posted no less than two challenges to General Meyer to put a division where his mouth is, with no reply. A warning order was sent out to my brigade commanders when the challenge was issued, however they are now asking where are the Yankees. Should I tell them the Yanks are all intoxicated and unable to defend themselves?

Your obedient servant,

Well gentlemen. I must say that 100% muster is fantastic. I'll step up for the 1st round and then Division Commanders can get the next several. Congratulations and I salute you all.
