January, 2010 AoT Army Report

Western Theater Commander

General Barlow,

It is my pleasure to present to you the January, 2010 Monthly Report of the Union Army of the Tennessee.

During the month this field army had attached to it a total of forty-one officers, all forty-one reporting their presence through e-mail responses as "active." All officers were awarded 1 OBD conduct point for their active duty response.

There were thirteen games started in December, two of them maneuvers and one UMA training exercise. There were also eight games that were ended in the month, which resulted in six major and two minor victories, all for the Union! Of the major victories recorded four were qualified as ribbon victories!

Lt.-Col. Steve Trauth earned a battlefield ribbon for HPSCG Gettysburg.
Lt.-Col. Neal Carney earned a battlefield ribbon for BGA Antietam.
Brig. Gen. Pete Russo earned a battlefield ribbon for HPSCV Port Gibson.
Maj. Gen. Joseph Meyer earned a battlefield ribbon for HPSCS Shiloh and a campaign ribbon for HPSCS Shiloh.

There were two major victories that qualified towards FMV awards. Brig. Gen. Dan Klien recorded a major victory in HPSCO Newtonia, and Lt.-Col. Robert Hovey recorded a major victory in HPSCV Milliken’s Bend.

Lt.-Col. Robert Hovey also scored two minor victories in two versions of HPSCV Champion Hill.

Two officers qualified for automatic field promotions; Chris Trog and Robert Hovey, both to Lieutenant-Colonel.

This field army was in the process of re-organization, having received orders to consolidate itself with the Union Army of the Ohio.

Twenty-one officers were received as active duty officers from the AoO, two of whom, Maj. Gen. Chuck Berdanier and Lt. Mike Alberts, requested and were granted a six-month Leave of Absence. Two other former officers placed themselves in Retired status. Of the remaining twenty-two officers, twenty were placed within the AoT Hospital at the end of the month, and two were re-assigned to the Army of the Cumberland.

Seventeen officers from the AoT reported themselves as ready for active service. Two additional officers were assigned to the AoT, one from the UMA (Lt. Ray Matthews) and one from the Army of the Shenandoah (Maj. David Elkin). Both of these officers are also serving as staff officers. Seven officers placed themselves on the Retired List. The remaining thirteen officers were all placed within the AoT Hospital at the end of the month.

During the month of December a number of assessment inquiries and studies were performed to facilitate the AoT re-organization. It is my personal pleasure to report that those officers who responded in the affirmative to their active status have also demonstrated a commendable degree of patience and solidity in standing to their colors while these assessments and inquiries were being conducted.

I am, in all respects, courteously yours,
