General Lars Wistedt
Western Theater Commander

General Wistedt,

It is my pleasure to present to you the August, 2010, Monthly Report of the Union Army of the Tennessee.

As of this date this field army has attached to it a total of fifty-one officers: forty-four active, one currently assigned to the AotT Hospital, four to the detached Ninth Division, and two on Leave of Absence. There were two new arrivals from the UMA, Lieutenants Einar Jon Masson and Ephraim Burton.

The army conducted its seventh Muster Call since its January re-organization this month with forty-four of the forty-five “available” officers responding, recording a 97% Muster Report return rate, up from last month. Once again the corps and divisional commanders of this army very adroitly and professionally exercised their duties, five of the six divisions turning in perfect 100% returns!

The detached Ninth Division currently lists five officers as Out-of-Contact: Brig. Gen. James Evans, Col. Bill Cassley, Maj. Wayne Luebbert and Lt. Victor Balaguer. Attempts to contact all five officers regularly will be continued. As a result of all of these personnel dispositions the AotT reports with two brigade vacancies in its OOB.

Two officers have been discharged from the AotT Hospital, and one officer, Lt. Abe Apfel, begins his third and final month in that institution.

As stated, five AotT divisions turned in 100% Muster Returns. Brig. Gen. Jeffrey McDonald’s First Infantry, XV Corps, earned their second straight, sixth overall such return. Col. Steven Reuter’s Second Infantry Division, XV Corps scored its seventh, consecutive and overall effort. General Chuck Jensen’s First Infantry Division of the XVI Corps turned in its sixth, consecutive and overall 100% return. Col. John Sheffield’s Second Infantry Division and Brig. Gen. John Lytwak’s Third (2nd) Cavalry Division both recorded their fifth overall 100% Muster Returns, providing Lt. Gen. Michael Dowling’s XVI Corps with it’s fourth overall, 100% return.

There were twenty-nine AotT games ended in the month of June, twenty-eight battles and one manuever. Eight of the battles resulted in AotT Major Victories, seven of them qualifying either in whole or in part for battlefield ribbons. AotT officers also scored two Minor Victories and four DRAWS. Our Rebel opponents, however, scored nine Major and five Minor Victories against us, marginally besting us on the fields of battle. The total number of overall battles fought indicates a growing activity on the part of the AotT.

Brig. Gen. Pete Russo scored a MV in HPSCH, #039, Chickamauga. Gen. Chuck Jensen recorded a MV in BGS, # 04h, Shiloh. Gen. Frank Mullins earned a MV in HPSCG, Historical 1, Gettysburg. In HPSCF, Battle of Nashville, Col. Dave Elkin brought home a MV. Capt. Andreas Trommel continued his winning ways with a MV in HPSCN, #002, Historical First Bull Run. And Col. Charles Babb chalked up a MV in BGA, #08, Antietam.

Col. Steve Trauth garbbed part of a FMV MV at Bethel Station in HPSCC. Lt. Col. Zafer Ejder scored two mV; one at Chantilly in HPSCN and at New Hope Church in HPSCA. Lt. Gen. Ed Lytwak, former commander of this great army, scored a heavily fought mV, completing 69 turns in an HPSCCH, #026C contest.

Brig. Gen. Pete Russo continued to amaze everyone by completing six separate contests in the month of July! Col. Steve Trauth completed three games.
