Gentlemen,

It is my pleasure to present the January, 2017 Monthly Report of the Union Army of the Tennessee.

STRENGTH: This month the AotT conducted its Eighty-fifth muster since its reorganization in January 2010. As of this date, this field army has attached to it an aggregate of Thirty-four officers. Of these thirty-four officers, thirty-three are Present for Duty. Thirty-one Present for Duty officers answered the January muster giving the AotT a 91% rate of effectives. 1Lt Thomas Andrews has been declared Out Of Contact for repeated failures to Muster and is assigned to the AotT Hospital. Col. Dan Macnamara and Captain Len Hermer have not reported for the January Muster.

OFFICERS RETURNED TO DUTY:

Lt. Gen. David Elkin has requested to Return to Duty from his Leave of Absence. He has further requested that he be relieved as XVI Corps Commander. He is hereby reassigned to command 4th Cavalry Brigade, 3(2Cav) Cavalry Division, XVI Corps.



LEAVE OF ABSENCE: NONE



OUT OF CONTACT:

1) 1lt. Thomas Andrews, 3/1/XV/AotT has missed three consecutive musters and is now assigned to the AotT Hospital.
2) Col. Dam Macnamara did not answer the January Muster. He is listed as MISSING.
3) Capt. Len Hermer did not answer the January Muster. He is listed as MISSING.




RECENTLY ASSIGNED OFFICERS: NONE


PROMOTIONS:

Brig. Gen. (P) Rich Miskinis has been confirmed by the Cabinet for promotion to Major General.


SPECIAL PROJECTS: Brig. Gen. Derek Hampel’s 2/XV Infantry Division is conducting another Division level Multi-Player battle with a Division from the CSA.



ARMY VACANCIES:

There are currently seventeen brigade command vacancies within the AotT OOB.

a) All six of the 7th Reserve Brigades are vacant.

b) The XVI Corps Commander Slot is Vacant

c) The remaining vacancies include:

1) 1st Infantry Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, XV Corps
2) 3rd Infantry Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, XV Corps
3) 5th Infantry Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, XV Corps

EAGLE DIVISIONS: Five of the six AotT divisions turned in a 100% Muster Return this month. The following records have been noted:


Maj. Gen. Jeff McDonald’s First Infantry Division, XV Corps, Seventh Consecutive, Sixty-fifth overall effort.

Brig. Gen. Derek Hampel’s Second Infantry Division, XV Corps, Third Consecutive, Seventy-fifth overall effort.


General Chuck Jensen’s First Infantry Division, XVI Corps: Forty-seventh Consecutive and Seventy-fifth overall effort.

Maj. Gen. John Sheffield’s Second Infantry Division, XVI Corps: Thirty-fourth consecutive and Seventy-second overall effort.

Col. Rich Miskinis’Third Cavalry Division (2Cav), XVI Corps; Second Consecutive and seventy-first overall effort.



BATTLE REPORT:

The AotT completed 6 Actions in the month of December 2016. All of these actions were BATTLES. The Confederates won 2 MAJOR VICTORIES 1 MINOR VICTORY and the AotT won 2 MAJOR VICTORIES. There was 1 DRAW.

BATTLEFIELD RIBBONS FOR MAJOR VICTORIES:

Lt.Gen. Michael Dowling won a Major Victory at Chancellorsville (1Day) (HPS Chancellorsville, Scenario 64c., Stuart Takes Over (May 3, 5 AM), 46 Turns) (1st Award)

Brig. Gen. (P) Rich Miskinis won a Major Victory at 2nd Bull Run (TS Bull Run, Scenario 12, Second Bull Run, 78 Turns) (1st Award)

OTHER AWARDS:

OUTSTANDING SERVICE MEDAL:

The Union Army Commander has awarded Gen. Dan Peterjohn the Outstanding Service Medal for his service as the Army of the Tennessee Commander during 2016.


EXEMPLARY SERVICE MEDAL:

The Theater Commander has approved the award of the Exemplary Service Medal to Brigadier General Derek Hampel for his service as the 2nd Infantry Division Commander, XV Corps, AotT. Brig. Gen. Hampel’s service has been particularly noteworthy for his organization and execution of two Division Level Multi-player tournaments that pitted his entire division against a CSA division of similar strength. Brig. Gen. Hampel’s initiative and imagination both contribute greatly to the continued strength of the ACWGC and to the enjoyment of its members.


HONORABLE SERVICE MEDAL: The Honorable Service Medal is awarded to the following members of the Army of the Tennessee Command and Staff for their unselfish performance of duty in conducting the month to month leadership and administrative functions of the Army of the Tennessee. Without these contributions, the AotT would rapidly deteriorate and fail to support its members.
