The Good Conduct Medal is awarded to Col. Neal Carney, 1/2/XVI for exceptional chivalry on the field of battle and for enhancing the reputation of the integrity of the officers of the Union Army. Col. Carney afforded a missing Confederate opponent an entire year to rejoin the battle they had started before he went to his chain of command to check with the Confederate Command Group to authorize him a Major Victory. Col. Carney delayed this action out of regard for his opponent whom he had played on other occasions. Col. Carney’s patience and consideration for his opponent serves as an example for all members of the ACWGC.
