ATTENTION!! BRIGADES!

Gentlemen,

It is my pleasure to present the January, 2015 Monthly Report of the Union Army of the Tennessee.

STRENGTH: This month the AotT conducted its Sixty-first muster since its reorganization in January 2010. As of this date, this field army has attached to it an aggregate of forty-one officers. Of these, forty are present for duty. Of the forty officers present for duty, thirty-eight answered the January muster giving the AotT a 95% rate of effectives.


RETIREMENTS: NONE


DISCHARGES: NONE


RESIGNATIONS: NONE


OFFICERS RETURNED TO DUTY: NONE


LEAVE OF ABSENCE: Lt.Gen. Ian Miller, 4/3(2Cav)/XVI, has begun a 6 month Leave of Absence at his own request. He is due to report back to active service on July 1, 2015.

RECENTLY ASSIGNED OFFICERS: NONE


PROMOTIONS: Colonel (P) Ken Crist has been confirmed by the ACWGC Cabinet for promotion to Brigadier General.



SPECIAL PROJECTS: Gen. Allan Hovey of the Confederate Army of the West has challenged the AotT to a tournament. So far seven AotT officers have signed up for the tournament.

ARMY VACANCIES:

There are currently eleven brigade vacancies within the AotT OOB.

a) All six of the 7th Reserve Brigades are vacant.

b) The remaining brigade vacancies include:

1) 1st Infantry Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, XV Corps
2) 3rd Infantry Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, XV Corps
3) 5th Infantry Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, XV Corps
4) 5th Cavalry Brigade, 3(1Cav) Cavalry Division, XV Corps
5) Artillery Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, XVI Corps



EAGLE DIVISIONS: Five of the six AotT divisions turned in a 100% Muster Return this month. The following records have been noted:

Maj. Gen. Jeffrey McDonald’s First Infantry Division, XV Corps, Fifth Consecutive,
Forty-sixth overall effort.

Lt. Col. Derek Hampel’s’s Second Infantry Division, XV Corps, Tenth Consecutive, Fifty-third overall effort.

General Chuck Jensen’s First Infantry Division, XVI Corps: Twenty-fourth Consecutive and Fifty-first overall effort.

Maj. Gen. John Sheffield’s Second Infantry Division, XVI Corps: Twelfth consecutive and Fiftieth overall effort.

Lt. Col. Rich Miskinis’ Third Cavalry Division (2Cav), XVI Corps: Twenty-fifth consecutive and Fifty-first overall effort.


BATTLE REPORT:

The AotT completed 14 actions in November 2014. These actions consisted of 11 BATTLES, 2 MANEUVERS and 1UMA TRAINING SESSION. Of the 7 BATTLES, the AotT won 5 MAJOR VICTORIES and 1 MINOR VICTORY. Confederate forces gained 2 MAJOR VICTORIES. There were 3 DRAWS.




BATTLEFIELD RIBBONS FOR MAJOR VICTORIES:


Gen. Kelly Ross won a Battlefield Ribbon for his Major Victory in the Overland Campaign (JTS Overland, Scn 100-640504. 1390 turns)

Gen. Chuck Jensen won a Battlefield Ribbon for his Major Victory at Gettysburg (TS Gettysburg, Scn 13a. “Battle of Gettysburg,” 149 turns)

Gen. Chuck Jensen won a Battlefield Ribbon for his Major Victory at Shiloh (TS Shiloh, Scn 04h. “Battle of Shiloh” 90 turns)

Gen. Dan Peterjohn won a Battlefield Ribbon for his Major Victory at Chantilly (HPS Antietam, Scn C2U1. “Chantilly-4th Battle of Campaign,” 55 turns)

Maj. Gen. Brent Horrocks won a Battlefield Ribbon for his Major Victory at Chickamauga (HPS Chickamauga, Scn 040. “Battle of Chickamauga,” 85 turns)




MAJOR VICTORIES NOT MERITING BATTLEFIELD RIBBONS: NONE




MINOR VICTORIES:

Lt. Gen. Michael Dowling won a Minor Victory at Chickamauga (HPS Chickamauga, Scn 039. “Battle of Chickamauga,” 85 turns)




OTHER AWARDS:

Major General Brent Horrocks is awarded the Sheridan Combat Medal for achieving the best combat record in XVI Corps during the 4th Quarter, 2014 with 6 Major Victories, 2 Minor Victories and no defeats.

Gen. Chuck Jensen is awarded the Combat Badge for achieving the second best combat record in XVI Corps with 4 Major Victories and no defeats.


The Honorable Service Medal is awarded to the following officers for their service in Army Command and Staff positions in the Army of the Tennessee:

Lt. General Dave Elkin: Commander, XVI Corps
Maj. General Jeff MacDonald: Commander 1/XV

The Good Conduct Medal is awarded to the following officers:

Lt. Colonel Derek Hampel for volunteering to assume command of 2nd Infantry Division, XV Corps.

Lt. Colonel Rich Miskinis for volunteering to assume command of 3(2Cav) Cavalry Division, XVI Corps.

Brigadier General Ken Crist for his work as the AotT ADC during 2014.

Brigadier General Stephen Trauth for reporting a serious ethics breach that had the potential to damage the reputation of the ACWGC.
