ATTENTION!! BRIGADES!

Gentlemen,

It is my pleasure to present the December, 2014 Monthly Report of the Union Army of the Tennessee.

STRENGTH: This month the AotT conducted its Sixtieth muster since its reorganization in January 2010. As of this date, this field army has attached to it an aggregate of forty-one officers. Of these, forty-one are present for duty and of the forty-one officers present for duty, all answered the December muster giving the AotT a 100% rate of effectives.


RETIREMENTS: NONE


DISCHARGES: NONE


RESIGNATIONS: NONE


OFFICERS RETURNED TO DUTY: NONE


LEAVE OF ABSENCE: NONE

RECENTLY ASSIGNED OFFICERS: NONE


PROMOTIONS: Colonel (P) Ken Crist has earned enough points for promotion to Brigadier General. He is currently waiting for confirmation of his promotion by the Cabinet.



SPECIAL PROJECTS: GEN. Allan Hovey of the Confederate Army of the West has challenged the AotT to a tournament. I will release details of how this event will work after the New Year.


ARMY VACANCIES:

There are currently eleven brigade vacancies within the AotT OOB.

a) All six of the 7th Reserve Brigades are vacant.

b) The remaining brigade vacancies include:

1) 1st Infantry Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, XV Corps
2) 3rd Infantry Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, XV Corps
3) 5th Infantry Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, XV Corps
4) 5th Cavalry Brigade, 3(1Cav) Cavalry Division, XV Corps
5) Artillery Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, XVI Corps



EAGLE DIVISIONS: All six AotT divisions turned in a 100% Muster Return this month. The following records have been noted:

Maj. Gen. Jeffrey McDonald’s First Infantry Division, XV Corps, Fourth Consecutive, Forty-fifth overall effort.

Lt. Col. Derek Hampel’s’s Second Infantry Division, XV Corps, Ninth Consecutive, Fifty-second overall effort.

Maj. Gen. Ray Matthews’ Third Cavalry Division (1Cav), XV Corps: Fifteenth Consecutive, Forty-sixth overall effort.

General Chuck Jensen’s First Infantry Division, XVI Corps: Twenty-third Consecutive and Fiftieth overall effort.

Maj. Gen. John Sheffield’s Second Infantry Division, XVI Corps: Eleventh consecutive and Forty-ninth overall effort.

Lt. Gen. Ian Miller’s Third Cavalry Division (2Cav), XVI Corps: Twenty-fourth consecutive and Fiftieth overall effort.


BATTLE REPORT:

The AotT completed 8 actions in November 2014. These actions consisted of 7 BATTLES and 1 MANEUVER. Of the 7 BATTLES, the AotT the AotT won 2 MAJOR VICTORIES and 0 MINOR VICTORIES. Confederate forces gained 3 MAJOR VICTORIES and 1 MINOR VICTORY. There were no DRAWS.




BATTLEFIELD RIBBONS FOR MAJOR VICTORIES:


Maj. Gen. Brent Horrocks won a Battlefield Ribbon for his Major Victory at Chancellorsville (HPS Chancellorsville, Scn 026C. “May 1st-3rd scn,” 133 turns)



MAJOR VICTORIES NOT MERITING BATTLEFIELD RIBBONS: NONE

Maj. Gen. Brent Horrocks won a Major Victory at Pickett’s Mill (HPS Atlanta, Scn 052. “Pickett’s Mill,” 20 turns)



MINOR VICTORIES: NONE



OTHER AWARDS:

General Joseph Meyer has been awarded the James B. McPherson Achievement Medal by a majority of the officers of the Army of the Tennessee. This award is presented for General Meyer’s signal work as a former commander of the AotT in organizing the AotT in 2010, developing the procedures that have sustained the AotT in subsequent years and his continuing work in maintaining the AotT website since becoming the General-in-Chief of the Union Army.

Lt. Gen. Ian Miller has been awarded the Defender of the Union Medal for his superlative work as a Corps Commander in both the Army of the Tennessee and the Army of the Ohio.

Maj. Gen. Brent Horrocks has been awarded the Kearny Cross of Valor by the Western Theater Commander for achieving six victories in a single month over Confederate forces. This is Maj. Gen. Horrocks’ third award of the Cross of Valor
