TAVERN WELCOME & ETIQUETTE - UPDATED

Post by cameronm »

All ACWGC officers are welcomed to come in, relax, pick up a copy of the latest Goat Hearder’ s Weekly, browse the postings from headquarters and otherwise enjoy the company of their brothers in arms. (Any Rebel officers who want to drop in will first be brought a free pint of beer and a double shot of whisky, as a "necessary courtesy"!) Here you can step up to the bar or pull up a chair, if any have four legs, at one of the tables and admire the stone age trappings of one of the Union Army's most storied fighting forces, The Army of the Tennessee.

The tavern draws it name from the mascot of the 8th Alabama Infantry Regiment, "Old Jeff Davis", the bald eagle. “Old Jeff Davis " accompanied the regiment from its initial organization in September of 1861 until the end of the war. The 8th Alabama became part of the 2nd Brigade, 8th Division, 1st Corps, Confederate Army of the West.

As commissioned officers of the ACWGC everyone's expected to conduct themselves with manners becoming their profession. It is expected that each will properly dispose of their cigar nips and chaw spittle in the cuspidors provided, and that they exhibit an experienced proclivity in holding their liquor – CSA Officers are exempt this rule. Overly intoxicated or rude behaviour will be tolerated, and the management will not hesitate in calling for more liquor at the first sign of trouble. If you'd like to make a posting its a simple exercise to get registered and do your talkin'. But passage through those twin doors labelled "Conference Hall" over there is strictly limited and the guards have been posted at the keep Union officers in
