a new cadet
Gentlemen,
I'm a new cadet (class'11) from France. I'm very happy to be in your club.
I want to thank because you are very welcoming with me, in particular general David Danner my instructor.
I want to greet my 2 friends and compatriot too : Brigadier General David Guégan and Captain Ephraim Burton. They have persuaded me to join your club.
In a friendly way.
Cadet Oliver Bianchi.

We welcome all the French officers in the Union Army. I remember well my week in Paris and then another week in Chartres/Loire Valley. The culture, sights, and food were only topped by so many fine friends wonderful people. Salute gentlemen.

Re: a new cadet
So, Guegan and Burton talked you in, did they?!!! While I am only marginally familiar with the former, but very knowledgeable about the latter, I hear that both of them frequently like to chase the barmaids on their off-duty hours. Worse, I hear that the barmaids actually go to the trouble of keeping current on their duty schedules and then making sure that they are working themselves on those particular hours! Once you are in the field, Cadet Bianchi, there will be little time for such excursions. We are in a war, here, and you will be called upon to do your part! You must learn to keep such activities at a strict minimum, no more than 8 or 9 times per week.

Well, Sir, furia francese is legendary on the battlefield and a canteen is a kind a battlefield, isn't? So brigadier general Guegan and myself are taughting some lessons to catch some pretty barmaids before chasing Southern Belles. And liquors are a very good means to keep alive our strenght, our vigor and our furia! So barmaid, champagne and red wine! The French are welcoming cadet Bianchi!
