Gen. Simms Honored for Service!
OFFICERS OF THE ACWGC UNION ARMY,
ATTENTION TO PARADE!
This parade is called to honor the service rendered as the Union Army's Eastern Theater Commander over the course of the last year by General Ned Simms.
CITATION FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE MEDAL
GENERAL NED SIMMS
General Ned Simms is awarded the Union Army's Outstanding Sevice Medal for his past year's service as the Union Army Eastern Theater Commander. During that period of time General Simms lent his formidable experience as an ACWGC member to the oversight and support of the Union Armies of the Potomac and Shenandoah, while making direct and substantial contributions to the conferences held by the Union Army Command Staff. Always present and always ready, Ned did not hesitate to provide his advises on a wide range of issues and directions undertaken both in those conferences and as a personal advisor to the General-in-Chief. As one of the club's earliest members and avid players, Ned has constantly and widely involved himself with direct personal contributions to the enhanced enjoyment of the members, his continuing "The American Civil War, Day By Day" posts within the Mason Dixon Forum but one such example. Ned's long-time abiding interest in the welfare of the ACWGC marked him as a logical choice in January of 2011 to assume the appreciable duties as Commander of the Union Army Eastern Theater, an undertaking from which he did not flinch and to which he brought great insight and enthusiasm.
This is the General's third such award!
General Simms is now also authorized to display the Union Army Theater Commander's Service Ribbon - 1 Year's Service.
OFFICERS OF THE ACWGC UNION ARMY,
Present, ARMS!
Order, ARMS!
Parade, DISMISSED!
It has been my personal privilige to have served closely with Ned during this past year, and I am greatly indebted to him for the role he performed. It is my sincere hope that he finds his new assignment within the Army of the Cumberland to be relaxing, enjoyable and satisfying. Please join me in saluting this fine officer for his voluntary contributions on our behalf.

Congratulations General Simms! Now someone step up to the bar here buy a couple of old timers a drink in celebration. I know General Simms won't be buying, his wallet hasn't seen daylight since he bought Winfield Scott a drink for making Captain.
