Gen. Meyer receives the first McPherson Achievement Medal

Official ACWGC Union Army General rank promotion announcements, command appointments and UA awards are made on the Parade Ground. The Mess Tent serves as a casual place for all club members to socialize, drink or have a meal, as long as they spend Yankee dollars! And, as much as we like to accommodate our Southron brethren, they will not be able to vote in any polls held here, or gain access to the restricted areas.

Gen. Meyer receives the first McPherson Achievement Medal

Post by Dan Peterjohn »

I am proud to announce the first ever award of the Army of the Tennessee's McPherson Achievement Medal to General Joseph Meyer. This medal is presented to those officers who have contributed great service to the Army of the Tennessee. A majority of active officers within the AotT have found Gen. Meyer worthy of this award for his signal service in reorganizing the AotT in 2010, Serving as its commander before taking overall command of the Union Army, providing a durable system for maintaining the Army's strength through a workable muster system and for his continued support in maintaining the AotT website and Conference Hall while still serving as the Union Army General-in-Chief. It would be no exaggeration to say that there would be no AotT without General Meyer's efforts.

I am most appreciative of this recognition and award, one which I shall treasure to a special degree with the most fond of memories. I can only thank the officers of the AotT for this particular honor and for their many kindnesses and considerations shown to me throughout my association with them.

I don't do this too often ... but - ramrod stiff at attention (Prussian style). Sword to bill of kepi...

Dan said it all, without Joe the AotT would not exist. Well done, Sir. ;)
