Time For Danner To Come Clean!

Official ACWGC Union Army General rank promotion announcements, command appointments and UA awards are made on the Parade Ground. The Mess Tent serves as a casual place for all club members to socialize, drink or have a meal, as long as they spend Yankee dollars! And, as much as we like to accommodate our Southron brethren, they will not be able to vote in any polls held here, or gain access to the restricted areas.

Time For Danner To Come Clean!

Post by Joe Meyer »

I'd thought to remain respectfully silent the first time I saw Dave's (General Danner's) revised forum signature, figuring that no one would know how dumb I actually am, if I merely pretended to understand it and didn't ask any questions. But now, some years later, I've exhausted my patience, surrendered my ego and finally decided to risk ruining the reputation of my intelligence by asking him flat out:

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, WHAT DOES "S = √ 30 x d x f + - e" MEAN?

Ok, I'll "come clean" on this. Gentlemen, S = √ 30 x d x f + - e (speed equals the square root when 30 is multiplied by distance x friction + or - the degree of elevation) is a mathematical equation used to determine the speed of a vehicle, prior to and at the point of a collision. My signature, is generally called the basic speed formula. I used this extensively during my police career as an accident re-constructionist. Christian Hecht is the first to discover this, but not the first to inquire. There are many variables in determining speed like, surface, elevation, weather, so when I first looked at the HPS maps, this is the first thing that came to my mind to get the jump on my opponent. That's why I included it in my signature. You can perform a simple test: use 150' of skid marks on level blacktop at .68 friction should give you ~ 55 MPH is speed reduction.
