AotS Summer Offensive: Finished Battle(?) Report

Greetings Officers of the Army of the Shenandoah. <salute>

043 Chick_Chickamauga V.2 (H) 35 /35, the first day of the Chickamauga battle vs Col. Rick Brown 4/3/II, ANV.

I spent the first 15 rounds consolidating the Union forces and attempting to prepare for the CSA offensive.
I spent the next 5 trying to figure out where the CSA forces where.
The Reb commander apparently spent those 20 turns where he was and behind just entrenching.
I spent the next 8 turns with assaults up and down his line, with him to only withdraw to another line behind the one he was in.
The next turn I pulled back one hex to see if there was any follow up, (crickets chirp), nothing.
I let my forces rest where they were the rest of the game with no distubance from the CSA at all.
No disturbance at all.
Not a shot, probe, or even movement, I mean nothing.

A draw.

Disappointed.
Especially because once I figured out their strategy, defensive fire, fall back and await Union advance, (which came the next turn and every turn I pressed), defensive fire, fall back, repeat ad nauseum.

I am confident of a Union victory if I would have had just one more day.

Still, it is what it is.

A round and cigars for all to cheer the men of the AotS who at least attempted a fight!

Yes, this strategy (the Reb) could be a problem in tourney games.
In my game, see other thread (Frankfort - The Battle for Kentucky), the Reb would have the advantage of height in a defensive position as I'm advancing up from a river.
If he had just dug in, I'd be in an inferior position and probably be forced to use most of the time to try to maneuver around a ridge to even out the odds... but this would be in full sight of those mountain men...

I agree, there are good and bad in most facets of life.
I already have a good "crew" of CSA opponents built up.

Oddly enough, even though i was disappointed by his conduct, (especially since he choose the scenario which I believe is set for a CSA offensive), I would play the officer again.
Not because of his conduct but because I feel I know his mettle and with the proper field . . . (Antietam perhaps?), would love to show him a true offensive spirit.

Actually I count a draw as a victory because it is not a loss. It was a good game and you upheld the honor of the AotS. Let me buy you a drink! "Set 'em up Quincannon!":)
