Lt. Jay Hightower Introduction

I recently graduated from the UMA and successfully fought off David Danner in a training game. I say 'successfully' because the game (Stephenson's Depot - just northeast of Winchester VA) ended in a draw, and given David's stellar record of victories I could reasonably expect to be defeated.

I have JTS Campaign Gettysburg (which I prefer), Talonsoft Gettysburg, Bull Run, and Antietam (Luddite that I am, I haven't figured out how to play them on Windows 10). AGEOD Civil War I (disk) and II (Steam), Ultimate General (Steam), and the old Sid Meier's Gettysburg and Antietam (same Windows problem). I do not have much PBEM experience, so this is a new treat. Even having my artillery overrun in training was fun (note that I did get them back)!

My game style is generally to 'turtle', as in trying to find a key piece of ground (objective or terrain) and defend it against assault. However I do like to attack. In the training game I made a recon in force against what turned out to David's main line. Good to know... One tactic I like is to raid the enemy rear. Against the AI, taking a supply wagon can be a good tactic, gaining supply and denying supply to the enemy. Against David, it was 'successful', in that I got a wagon. However the unit and the wagon were killed, plus after the game ended I found out that David had plenty of supply. In a longer game I think that tactic may be effective.

My compliments to you all! Happy Holidays!

Jay: Welcome aboard, Lieutenant Hightower. Congratulations on your successful training joust, and your admission to our ranks. I have the Matrix updated Civil War series, the Tiller Atlanta and Peninsula campaigns, and would be delighted to test your "turtle" strategy against my "offensive a l'outrance" tendancies if you so desire. Welcome aboard! Regards, LtCol Max Corley

Max - I would like to play a game and have a 'slot' available (I only play up to two games concurrently). I would prefer to play JTS Campaign Gettysburg v 2.01 if you have it.
