Hi Gents,
I have a question. I am playing my first official game in the Lieutenant's Cup. We are playing the Stephenson's Depot scenario. I am not doing well on points. But as we near the end, it does not seem that my opponent will even get close to my objective.
But on points I am not looking good. They seem to have a firepower advantage, as well as multiplied by my mistakes. But are points more important than objectives? I mean it seems I have done what I need to do to not allow the objective to fall. I am not asking for a win. But I don't see how that should be a MAJOR DEFEAT.

Re: points vs objectives
The answer depends upon why you are playing the game and thus what results in more fun for you. If winning or losing doesn't matter but you want to simulate the real battle as much as possible (the historical player) then objectives probably mean more to you than points. If you're doing your best to win regardless of how (a gamer), then points mean far more than objectives. Myself, I'm a gamer. My opponent can take every objective hex on the map and I won't care just as long as I have enough points for victory. During a campaign, that is doubly important as I want to inflict as many casualties as possible and drain my foe for the future engagements.

Re: points vs objectives
I tend to want to go for the objectives or defend them as the primary result to shoot for. But I think that'll lose me more matches.
