Hello,

I'm David Martin and was born, raised and live in Louisiana. As a southerner, I was reared on tales of the War For Southern Independence. One GGGGrandfather served in the 38th Tennessee Infantry(Perryville; Shiloh; Murfreesboro; Chickamauga and Chatanooga) and one served in the 28th Louisiana (Gray's) Infantry (Numerous actions in the Teche Campaign and the Red River Campaign including Mansfield).

I have been a student of The War of The Rebellion all my life. Over the years, despite my heritage, I came to have great respect and admiration for Gen. U. S. Grant and Admiral David G. Farragut.

That's what got me interested in gaming and now I am addicted to the TS BG series. I just wish I could get Mansfield.

Anyway, (with apoligies to R. E., Lee's cousin Admiral S.P.Lee, USN) when it came time to choose my feeling is "When I find the word Louisiana in my Commission I will join the Confederacy".

Special thanks to Col. Tommy Lynn and Gen. Joseph Meyer for their warm welcome.

Warmest Regards,

Cadet David Martin {salute}

A warm welcome to you David.

Being raised in Louisiana, are you a French speaker ?

Thank you.

I speak some Cajun French like everyone else, but a French speaker, no.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Lol.

this strictly means nothing in French although all words taken separately are correct
I could guess the meaning but had to check on wikipedia to be sure of it

Exactly! Cajun French is not *really* French, but a mixture of a little bit of everything based on French.

Louisiana is also a gumbo of just about everything based on starting the roux with France and Spain. Especially the Big Easy!

Warmest Regards,

David

Welcome Cadet Martin. Glad to see someone else from the former Confederate states in the Union Army as I reside in West Texas. Now if your instructor hasn't told you already it is customary for the new cadets to spend their meager allowances buying drinks for the senior officers to make sure they get the plum assignments.

Yes Sir! {salute}

Let Bacchus’s sons not be dismayed
Cadet Martin reporting with bar tab paid
Come one come all and have some fun
Then forward we’ll make the rebels run
