This is to announce the promotion of Col. Mark van der Hagen as the new commander of the Cavalry Division, XIV Corps. During his service in the Aotc Mark has contributed much to the Union cause both in military prowess and participation in club activities. He also serves as the AotC Odnance Officer. Mark takes over for Major General Tom Ciampa who will remain in the AotC commanding a Brigade. Tom can focus on fighting Rebs now with his time commanding the Cavalry Division completed. Let's give a hearty congratulations to Mark and thanks to Tom for his time well served.

Congratulations to Colonel Mark van der Hagen on the assumption of his new command. As an old brigade commander from the "Cumberalnd Sabres" I can assure him that he inherits a storied command, one well-commanded and guided for many years by the officer he replaces, Major General Thomas Ciampa.

Official approval notice of Colonel van der Hagen's recommendation to this command has been posted in the Parade Ground & Mess Tent section of the Union Army HQ Forum.
