Division "Lafayette" - 2nd division, XX corps

MAIN TAVERN ROOM
Welcome to officers of both sides. Sit down and enjoy a drink served by our lovely barmaids Helga and Ingrid. Trade war stories or tall tales, but remember your deportment; that large man behind the counter will not hesitate to escort you out, if your behavior does not honor your rank!

Division "Lafayette" - 2nd division, XX corps

Post by elpaco »

Gentlemen of the AotC and especially of the 2nd division, XX corps

I have the pleasure to inform you of the change of name of our division.

"Carlin's Cavaliers" was MG Fogarty original brigade's name, which he took with him when he stepped up to divisional command. He will keep this name for his 1st Brigade. I thus had to find a new name for the 2nd division.

As our division includes 3 French natives, I have been thinking of something related to our origin. MG Fogarty had a nice suggestion for me with "Les Zouaves". But you have to know that in french, zouave means a kind of soldier with a special uniform but due to this uniform "faire le zouave" also means "play the fool", which is not exactly what I was looking for :D

As I didnot want something only french, as my brigade commanders also come form the USA and Norway, I made up my mind on something that enhances both the cooperation between the USA and France and also personal skills and prowess with "Lafayette".
It will be the new name of our 2nd division from now on.
I have designed a flag (with my poor skills...) to go with it.

General Barlow has been kind enough to make the update on the website.

To all officers of the AotC, please have a glass of champagne to celebrate General Lafayette and the 2nd Division !!

Best Regards

Gents I think that "faire le zouave" is a much more fitting name for a Yank Division
