Notice of Commendation, Maj. Gen. Tom Ciampa
Gentlemen of the Army of the Cumberland,
The following was posted within the Parade Ground & Mess Tent of the Union Army HQ Forum this date.
OFFICERS OF THE ACWGC UNION ARMY,
ATTENTION TO PARADE!
It gives me great pleasure to award the following commendation to Major General Thomas Ciampa in recognition of his concurrent, four-year service as Division Commander and Adjutant in the ACWGC Union Army of the Cumberland. It is not often that a retiring Division Commander merits such an award, but in this particular case it is well-earned.
CITATION
As becomes the traditions of the ACWGC Union Army and in keeping with the values of recognition for services rendered in its behalf, the following citation is presented. During the period of his tenure as Commander of the Cavalry "Cumberland Sabres" Division, ACWGC Union Army of the Cumberland, Major General Ciampa demonstrated an exceptionally consistent, reliable and straight-forward execution of the duties associated with his command, setting and maintaining an excellent standard and example for not only the officers within his division, but also for those without. His personal exhurberance, enthusiasm and consideration were amply evident in everything that he undertook and accomplished, imparting a very distinct and enjoyable character to his command. Attending this very capable leadership was his contribution to his parent army as that organization's Adjutant. In that role, Major General Ciampa displayed his very detailed and focused abilities in generating the monthly Award Eligibility Report, an endeavor he rigorously and thoroughly performed to the complete satisfaction and appreciation of that army's commanders.
It is with the complete and very forceful approbation of his present Army and Corps Comanders, General Deral Riggs and Lieutenant General Dirk Gross, that I am honored and privileged to present to Major General Thomas Ciampa, in appreciation of his valuable contributions to the Army of the Cumberland, the Union Army's Outstanding Service Medal and Ribbon, that officer's first such, career award.
OFFICERS OF THE ACWGC UNION ARMY,
Present, ARMS!...Order, ARMS!
Parade, DISMISSED!

I must offer a special thanks to Tom. He was for a time my right and left arm as Adjutant. I sure thank him for his efforts, but most of all I will always remember the fun we had with our emails and phone conservations. Special. Yep, Tom is!
